If the scanner isn't detecting a Linxy Mark, work through this checklist. Most scan issues are resolved by the first three steps.

Quick fixes

1
Check your lighting

Move to a well-lit area. Avoid direct overhead light that creates glare on the image surface. Harsh shadows and bright reflections block the scanner from reading the watermark.

2
Adjust your distance

Hold your phone 6–12 inches from the image. If you're too close, the camera can't focus. Too far, and the watermark signal is too small. The image should fill about two-thirds of your screen.

3
Hold steady

Keep your phone still for 2–3 seconds. Motion blur makes watermarks unreadable. Rest your elbow on a surface if your hand is shaky.

4
Scan straight-on

Point the camera directly at the image, not at a steep angle. Extreme angles distort the watermark pattern.

5
Check if the image is actually marked

Not every image contains a Linxy Mark. Look for the Linxy logo, "Scan with Linxy" text, or the product name (NoteLinx, LinxyFrame) near the image. An unmarked image will never scan.

6
Check the image condition

Severely faded, water-damaged, crumpled, or heavily creased prints may have degraded watermarks. Try smoothing out the image and scanning the least damaged area.

7
Restart the app

Close the Linxy App completely (swipe it away from the recent apps list) and reopen it. This clears the camera state and reinitializes the scanner.

Screenshots don't scan: Taking a screenshot or photo of a Linxy Mark typically won't produce a scannable copy. The compression and camera noise degrade the watermark below the detection threshold. This is by design — Linxy Marks are copy-resistant.
